PROBLEMS OF NUTRITION

 

 

 

 

Definitions of problems

 

 

 

 

Obesity is an illness. Health service began to realize that percentage of obesity people in developed world is about 50 , in last 10 years it increased by 20 %. Obesity is an illness, which already has extension of an epidemic. Many illnesses accompanies obesity, they worse our quality of life and shorts our life age. Anorexia is an eating disorder. Usually young people have it. Weight loss is characteristic of anorexia. People suffering from anorexia are very skinny but are convinced that they are overweight. These people have an intense fear of becoming fat. We must say that anorexic people (manily girls) are very ill or near death, that is why they need to get help immediately.(source: mamashealth.com)

Bulimia is an psychological eating disorder. Symptoms of bulimia are mostly uncontrolled overeating, vomiting and taking purgatives that prevents growth of the body weight. Bulimia people eat highly calorific food, even when they avoid it and they eat a lot of it – they stuff oneself. In some cases people`s stomaches burst and they die. It is very important that disease is early recognized that it could be cured. (source: spolnost.com)

Blaž Leban After same discussion we decided. Our topic will be nutrition.

Ines Selič Dear classmates i suggest that we all try to find a person with

big experiance with that problem and make interview with her.I think that this can really show how big problem is.

First item:

 

At our first meeting we talked about problems of nutrition. As we talked, we ralized that these problems are: irregularly and unhealthy feeding because of the fast tempo of modern life, anorexia, bulimia, losing weight and also getting it.

 

Secund item:

 

Blaž will contact professor Blanka Tivadar, she gives lessons about sociology of nutrition and feeding, Eva will interview a person, who has bulimia, Ines and i will get more information about our topic.

 

Third item:

 

Ines suggests, that we all find a person with enough experiance, who has problems with feeding or any kind of problem regarding nutrition, she/he will help us acquire important things for assignment.

 

Fourth item:

 

We remembered, that we still haven`t got a name of the group, but that day we didn`t have any suggestions...for now!

 

 

 

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 16. november, 2006 at 10 AM at FDV Library.

We discused all three problems referring nutrition, which we decided on (anorexia, obisity and bulimia) but the main emphasis will be about the last problem - bulimia.
